Wet & Wild
We have had a very busy couple of days here, starting on a sad note with the funeral of our friend's 15 year old son who succumbed to bone cancer. We still have some family members staying with us. As well, I took Rosie to a swim meet in Calgary yesterday. She did very well and even won one race. In the mean time, Isie had his soccer tournament here in Canmore. Despite a valiant effort and being one player short, his team came dead last. Still worthy of an ice cream though! Today, everyone is moving slowly, both kids are coughing up a lung ... and we have one week to go before the end of term and Cacade Engineering being sold! Here are a couple of pics. Rosie is the second from the top.

Flowers
Despite the continuing bad weather and zero garden attention so far this year, we have some flowers! Note the anti-bunny devices.

Jazz and Java
We were treated to a concert by the school jazz band tonight. These guys have practiced at 7:15AM every Tuesday and Thursday all year!! I'm going to attempt to post a video clip from when they got together with the high school jazz band for a bit of sight reading, Putting on the Ritz
Alberta Summer Games
Great news! Rosie has qualified to compete in the Alberta Summer Games this year in swimming. Both she and Isaac went to try outs last weekend and we got the good news yesterday. Commiserations to Isie who didn't make it.
Rosie will head off to Lethbridge for 4 days at the end of July on the team bus with the rest of her Zone 2 team ( a bunch of kids from other towns) and will stay in the Athlete's Village. Just like the Olympics ;). Oh, and she has requested that her parents DO NOT volunteer as chaperones!!

Visitors from Oregon
We were very excited to see my aunt and uncle, Rachel and Derek, who live in Oregon, USA this weekend. A big treat! The weather was particularly 'special' for them with floods and even several inches of snow. Despite the appalling weather, we had a great time and it was lovely to see them.

Bike Camp
I had lots of fun away with the girls mountain biking! The best and the worst part was that I had a 69 year old in my group (yes, and I was in the advanced group). The best part was that she was totally inspiring and the worst part was that she rode more difficult things than I did (I was too scared). Here's a biking picture and a picture of a bear we saw on the drive.
First Medal
This weekend, I went away on a mountain bike camp and Adrian stayed with the kids. On Saturday, he took the kids to another swim meet, this time in Okotoks. The meet went well, but most exciting was we found out that Rosie won a bronze medal at last weekend's meet in High River. In her 7 seasons with the club, she as never won an aggregate medal before (means she was the 3rd fastest 13/14 year old girl).
